Community Banking - Doing their best in a hard situation.
Rotarian Charlie House has been attending Palm Springs Rotary for 5 years and was appointed a Sojourner 3 years ago. He will be sharing his experience as a Director of Park State Bank, a small Minnesota Bank with assets of $31 million, and how community banks are affected by the actions of the nation's largest banks. Charlie is a retired CPA and has been a Rotarian for nearly 45 years with perfect attendance. His home club is Duluth #25, chartered in 1912. |

The Club's Local Foundation will be distributing funds to local charities.
Rotarian Jim Dowler was born in Athens, Ohio. He entered the US Army immediately out of high school. He received his Bachelors from THE Ohio State University and Masters from the University of Florida. He worked for over 20 years in aerospace and Department of Defense projects for Martin Marietta and Sperry Univac as a Human Factor Engineer, systems program analyst, and marketing rep. Projects included NASA's Gemini Program and the design and development of the Naval Tactical Data System, the successful effort to automate the Combat Information Centers aboard USN warships. In the mid-80s he relocated to Palm Springs where he and Marcia owned and operated Desert Rentals, Inc. (the Rental Connection & Resort Realty) for almost 25 years, selling it in December 2006. He has been a member of the Rotary Club of Palm Springs since 1991. |

Lynne Richardson is the Supervisor of the Hi-Desert Nature Museum near Joshua Tree National Park. she holds a BA in Anthropology from UC Davis and a Masters in Museum Studies from San Francisco State University. She has worked for a variety of museums including the Autry Museum of Western Heritage in Los Angeles, Monticello (Thomas Jefferson's historic home in Charlottesville, VA) and the National Museum of Natural History (part of the Smithsonian Institute). Ms. Richardson also worked for the FBI in Washington, DC for 8 years as their Art Theft Program Manager recovering stolen cultural property around the world. During her tenure at the FBI she created the organizations's first Art Crime Team. She has conducted training programs and made numerous presentations regarding art crime nationally and internationally.
