2010-2011 Year July 28th 2010 Issue 2

Another beautiful afternoon in Palm Springs brought out all the usual suspects, including Chuck Cheeld leading the the flag salute and Max Morgan reminding us of the key elements of the Four Way Test.

On a hot summer day it was only fitting that Stewart Cross provided us with cold shower memories during his vocational minute giving details of his early days as an entrepreneur in the tub and shower enclosure business.  I don't know about you, but I felt positively refreshed after Stewart's presentation.  Shampoo anyone?

President Christine Cross introduced visiting Rotarians from far and near, including Fred Latuperissa from Ontario, CA, and Ron Selling who drove in all the way from Cathedral City.  David Gonzalez, visiting from the central valley town of Yuba City, presented us with his club's flag.  Introduced as guests were James Canfield and Lisa Reagan, wife of one of our newly installed members.

There were announcements aplenty regarding upcoming events such as the progressive dinner, the beer garden at the Palm Springs Latin festival, the club foundation's contribution to a new water well in Romania, and upcoming Bowling for Polio and RAGS fundraisers.  Also discussed were the club's attendance trend and need for membership recruitment.

Milt Levinson introduced our two newest members (well, one new and one not-so-new).  John Reagan was welcomed as our newest member and joins our growing real estate contingent (maybe that's a good economic sign).  And welcome back Art Snow--we missed you.

Our speaker today was our own Mock Stnlee(that's Mark Stanley for those readers not fluent in English).  Mark covered indepth and detail numerous aspects of the use and content of the Club's website.  In fact, so enthralled were we while listening to Mark's presentation that we ran overtime and had to skip recognition fining.  What a pity.  But do not despair, we'll all be quizzed at a later date on the information provided.

By the end of the meeting Bob Elsner was the only member willing to admit his happy mental state and it was all because of Mark Stanley's continuing work on our web site.  We know that Bob Allen was happy also, but wouldn't admit it, even when he took home twenty bucks from the opportunity drawing.

Your humble reporter,

Tracy Powers
