2010-2011 July 14th 2010 Issue 1

Christine Cross's first full meeting as President and she was in good form! Milt greeted arrivals and directed them to his wife who used all of her skills to extract money from everyone. Sitting next to her was the welcome return of Janie Bolitho to our shores. Good to see yah!

Hal Castle sold tickets, assuring all that they had the winning ticket - but of course they didn't.

Although in a previous email Christine assured us that the meeting would start promptly at 12:10 - it was some two minutes later when the bell rang - first meeting nerves! Hal Castle led in the pledge Jim Dunn the four way test. After bouncing up and down in our seats - Jim Griffes brought spiritual thoughs together to thank Rotary.

Bob Allen talked about his Rotary Minute and the importance of foundation. Since there was on one visiting Rotarian, Art Snow (who isn't really visiting) Christine "did him". Milt's introduced his granddaughter Sydney and Jim Dunn introduced past Rotarian David Aaker. John Regan was visiting us again as he ponders his next move to join and we welcomed back Janie Bolitho.

Sandraannounced that there were no more pre-paid lunches - so THERE!!!! Gary Luce spoke on membership and Christine explained where the coins for kid bowls go..! Christine mentioned that we should save all unwanted items for the great Rotary boot sale (can I get my mother-in-law on the list - she won't fetch much but I'll be happy!).

There is a party at the Casa di Stewart and Christineon July 24th - if you have not signed up already do so immediately - there will be cocktails and horses duuvries plus a smidgin of alcohol.

David Thornton from Angel View came to the meeting to thank us for the help at the recent prom. He also brought along his two ambassadors Kyle and Greg(withtheir assistants) to tell us more of their hardships and struggles in life. It is truly amazing that people with such disabilities can be so positive and succesfull in life - we should look at these wonderful people and their fellows for inspiration every day

.

Norm Brown had an unhappy dollar for Chet Gibbons(an honorary member of our club) who now resides in Las Vegas. Chet had fallen in the shower and had been taken off to hospital. A small period of silence was observed so that all could concentrate their best wishes for Chets recovery.

Fine master was the Elsner who posed questions about the nations heritage and laws - a staggering 70% of suspects failed miserably. Art Snow had the winning raffle ticket and walked off with a staggering $19.00 - how his life will change........
